Tips When the swell has a very w-nw direction there is a perfect beach break located approximately two miles north of the estuary’s mouth. Warnings Don’t leave your car far from the camping area. It is much safer to camp in the Argelia camping area. -
Playa Grande
General description Beaches breaks. It is a good place when surfing is small in the area. Waves Good for everybody. It tends to close-out when there is a swell higher than six feet face. Where to surf The whole beach has various beach breaks. Best season All year Best tide Mid-tide Nearby surf breaks Playa Tamarindo, Playa Langosta, Playa Avellanas and Playa Negra. Food There are some restaurants in the area. -
Playa Tamarindo
General description Beach break and rocky points Waves All types Where to surf At the estuary’s mouth and another point is to the right of the rock in front of Hotel Dolly as well as at the Asapo (south point of the beach). Lodging There are a great variety of places that offer to lodge of all price ranges. Tips Tamarindo is a good place as a central point to reach other surfing areas. Also, from here you can rent boat transport to Witches’ Rock and Oliver’s Point. Warnings Don’t leave things in your car or on the beach, as there are many thieves in the area. -
Playa Langosta
General description Point breaks Waves Good for everybody Where to surf The best spot for surfing is to the right of the estuary’s mouth. When the waves are small you can surf at the estuary’s mouth.
