The Small city of Manuel Antonio is an ideal area to enjoy the outdoors and see the unique flora and fauna of Costa Rica.

WHITE WATER RAFTING:

Costa Rica’s world-class Whitewater provides the perfect playground for exciting rafting adventures. Choose from three remote river sections of the varying class, depending on the season and water level. We use either 6-man U-paddle rafts in high water or 2-man inflatable kayaks at lower levels. Our experienced Whitewater professionals guide all trips and include detailed safety briefings and paddling instructions. Each river offers a scenic tour of untouched primary rainforests and spectacular local wildlife.

Savegre River

This full-day adventure starts with a 4-wheel drive trip into the remote valley home to the Rio Savegre. Perfect for all experience levels, the river offers an exciting selection of class II, III, and IV rapids as well as pristine waterfalls, swimming holes, and a remarkable variety of birds, including egrets, toucans, osprey, parrots, kingfishers, and cormorants. A “Tico” style lunch is hosted at the local small village.


Time: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.
Participant Requirements: Good physical condition, must be over ten years old.
Bring River sandals or water shoes, a bathing suit, sun protection, a t-shirt, and a hat.
Some trips have a minimum participant number.

Naranjo River

A class III/IV half-day challenge for more experienced paddlers, this river drops steeply from the mountains above Quepos through a beautiful jungle gorge and takes you on a wild ride to sea level by farmlands and palm plantations. Water levels can rise quickly, increasing the difficulty of the rapids, so rafters should be physically fit and adventurous. Fruit snacks are provided during the adventure.


Time: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm.
Participant Requirements: Good physical condition, must be over 12 years.
Bring River sandals or water shoes, a bathing suit, sun protection, a T-shirt, and a hat.

Parrita River

Cascading down from the Bustamante Mountain Range, this is one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful waterways. As a class II/III river, it is ideal for families and beginners, with a mix of exciting rapids and beautiful swimming holes. Lunch is served “Tico” style at a small riverside restaurant. This is the closest rafting river if you stay in the Jaco or Los Suenos area. Time: 8:00am – 4:30pm.
Participant Requirements: Good for the whole family; must be over eight years old.

KAYAKING TOURS:

The Pacific coastline of Manuel Antonio provides some of Costa Rica’s most commanding scenery, and a sea kayak is the perfect vantage point to explore its untouched beauty. As naturalist guides introduce you to the local wildlife and surrounding environment, take it all in at your own pace. Play in the ocean and waves on our Manuel Antonio tour or stay within the calm water inlets of Damas Island.

Manuel Antonio Coastal Paddle

This is a more challenging open ocean paddle from Quepos to the Manuel Antonio National Park along the rugged coastline. Paddle by islands that are nesting sites for unique coastal birdlife, including boobies and frigatebirds. Visit the secluded Biesanz Bay and surf kayak at Espadilla Beach. A ‘Tico’ style lunch is hosted at the end of the tour, near the entrance to the national park.


Time: 8:00 am – 12:00 and 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Damas Kayak

Paddle the smooth, protected inland waterways and explore the unique ecosystem of an island mangrove. Abundant with wildlife, the Damas area also offers a swimming beach and a great seafood restaurant for lunch.


Time: Depends on tides, 5-6 hours.

NATIONAL PARK TOURS:

Manuel Antonio National Park

Manuel Antonio National Park is deservedly the most popular park in Costa Rica, with beautiful white sand beaches surrounded by emerald waters and jungle.

Our naturalist guides will explain the history and geography of the area and help you get the most out of your visit, pointing out sloths, monkeys, iguanas, and many insects and birds during this very informative three-hour walk.


Time: 7:30 am – 12.
Participant Requirements: Good for the whole family.
Bring Comfortable hiking shoes, a bathing suit, and a camera.

Carara National Park

This 4700-hectare reserve is the northernmost tropical wet forest on the Pacific Coast and is accessible within a 90-minute drive from Quepos. Surrounded by agricultural land, it forms an oasis for wildlife from a large surrounding area. This tour offers a two-and-a-half-hour hike with a naturalist guide through the richly biodiverse reserve as well as a chance to see the extensive rice fields, African palm plantations, and local cattle ranching. In addition to the wildlife inside the sanctuary, large crocodiles can often be spotted in the Rio Tarcoles adjacent to the Park.


Time: 7 am – 5 pm.

SPORTFISHING:

Los Suenos and que Quepos are known as one of the world’s top ten best fishing destinations.
During the peak month from November through April, it is not unlikely for anglers to release up to fifteen sailfish in a day. While you are out there, you also have a good chance of raising a Blue, Black, or Striped Marlin, as well as Dorado(Mahi Mahi), Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo. If inshore bottom fishing is your game, Quepos boasts a world record Snook, caught off of the mouth of the Rio Naranjo, and is home to Dog Tooth Snapper, Grouper, and Jack Travoli, to name a few. For those of you who enjoy big game fly fishing, various companies specialize in fly fishing for Sailfish, Marlin, and so on.

A wide variety of boats are working the waters off Quepos and can find accommodating charters in just about every price range. The average rates are as follows.

SUNSET SAILS AND JET SKI TOURS:

Imagine cruising along the lush coastline of Costa Rica on a beautiful sailboat while sipping on fresh Pina Coladas or your favorite glass of wine. The sunset sail cruise is a daily 4-hour trek around the waters off the coast of Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Enjoy regular sightings of dolphins, sea turtles, migrating whales, flying fish, birds, and a host of other species of wildlife, while marveling at the dazzling sunsets. Tours include a stop at a popular local spot for snorkeling, food, and drink.

If a relaxing sail is not enough action for you, try one of the amazing jet ski tours up the coastline. Each tour is personally guided by one of the local bi-lingual guides, and they will take you down the rich coasts of the area, stopping at secluded beaches and coves where you can take a dip.

Top-of-the-personal line watercraft, with fantastic wildlife and frequent visits from our marine friends like dolphins, whales, and turtles, make for an adventure you won’t soon forget.

HORSEBACK RIDING TOURS:

A wonderful horseback tour that will take you into the foothills of the Cerro Nara mountain range.

Located 30 minutes from Manuel Antonio, this tour offers you the opportunity to get in touch with the natural world as you watch exotic birds, butterflies, tropical plants, and wildlife, and take a swim in the Nara waterfalls and pools. The tour includes transportation, breakfast, and lunch.

CANOPY TOURS:

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime experience as you are strapped into harness equipment and “fly” on zip lines from platform to platform in the jungle canopy.

This tour includes transportation from area hotels and is one of the country’s best canopy tours, boasting over eight platforms and stunning jungle views.
